| As you might be aware or not, I am the student representative at Gallaudet for the permanent provost search committee. Currently, we have three candidates who were selected for interviews and presentations. The committee have emailed the Gallaudet community requesting for the community's input for interview questions. I'd like to give kudos to everybody who contributed! Today will be the last day for the last candidate for us to interview. We will spend tomorrow and probably Saturday going through our interview notes and we will select one, two or three candidates we think best fit for the position of a provost. We will make these recommedations to Dr. Davila and our hands are tied from thereafter. Keep in mind that we're very well informed and aware of the underlying issues related to the provost position. We do recognize that we needed to make a difference in evaluating qualification and characteristics of the candidates to meet the expectations to accomodate changes at Gallaudet and in the community. Please feel free to email me with comments, questions and so forth to my Gallaudet email - jeanine.wiesblatt@gallaudet.edu If I've not heard anything, I will have to come to a conclusion in which I am assuming that everything is running without objections. In my last note, doesn't these colors here remind you of yummy chocolate chip mint ice cream at Baskin Robbins? Ciaos | | |
| What a semester. There were so many things that have happened indirectly or directly that blew my mind in a short frame of time period. It is like getting hit with a teeny little foam hammer first, then a plastic hammer, then the next blow would be a regular sized rubber hammer, then the next one would be an a standard metal hammer, and then the last one is of course a sledgehammer. This is my first blog since March, and believe me, this is the most difficult phase in my life bad enough that I had the need to recover simply by shutting out the world for a period of time. For the layman's terms, it basically meant that I've literally CRASHED. I was totally unable to function. Took me weeks and weeks to slowly get back to being myself, but still cooped up in my Kendall Apt, so...do? Ahh, unpacking, organzing, cleaning to no end. Finally my home is a home where we all can live together in harmony. I wouldn't be able to survive this without the faith and support from my devoted husband, David. Now I'm a wife and a mother again, whew. Still can't function with school work, being in classrooms with some immature students. Time will come. But, being selected to represent the entire student body at Gallaudet in the current permanent provost search committee was a huge boost to my confidence, and it was a fabulous experience interacting with different people from different departments at Gallaudet. That is my 1st step in getting out in public. I'm battling severe anxiety. Anyone exprienced this? Advice? (yes, I'm seeing a therapist, after all, I am human.) | | |
